OCD Walk!

We had an awesome time at this year’s One Million Steps for OCD Walk! Our BCAOTC team was able to raise over $1,200 for the IOCDF and OCD North Carolina. The four walks across North Carolina raised over $8,000! It was a great turnout this year and a joy to connect with community members and colleagues. We’ll see you out there again next year!

One Millions Steps for OCD Walk - 2023

Our team will be participating in the upcoming Durham OCD walk on Saturday, October 7th 2023 at C.M. Herndon Park.

All proceeds go towards the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) and our local affiliate, OCD North Carolina. The walk not only helps break stigma surrounding OCD and related disorders, but also contributes to research, resources, and programs that provide individuals and families with evidence-based treatment. Together, we can give our support and make a meaningful difference for the OCD community.

We would love to see you there!

IOCDF Annual Conference

Don’t miss the International OCD Foundation’s Annual Conference! It’s not too late to register — the conference will be July 7-9th in San Francisco. Ben will be speaking at a panel on Sunday — “Navigating Treatment with OCD and an Anxiety Disorder”. You can find both Ben and Erin at the OCD North Carolina booth. Hope to see you there!

IOCDF Annual Conference — Denver 2022

I’ve loved the IOCDF’s pivot to the Online Conference these past couple of years, but I don’t think I fully appreciated just how much it means to be surrounded by friends and colleagues in person. The OCD community is truly magical and this year’s conference was a much needed boost. Can’t wait for San Francisco 2023!

IOCDF conference will be virtual this year!

IOCDF recently announced that the annual conference is canceled and will be replaced with a virtual event. I’m feeling many conflicting things about this announcement. I’m sad to be without the community of the conference for another year, as I love being able to facilitate my annual support group and will miss connecting with my colleagues. I’m also excited, as this will provide a unique opportunity to bring the conference to a wider audience. As a member of the conference planning committee this year, I have been able to get an early glimpse at some of the virtual programming in store for us and it does look exciting!

Another year, another amazing IOCDF conference!  I am so thankful for this wonderful organization and everything that it provides.  Every year I emerge from the conference reminded of just how brave and supportive this community can be.  I am reminded of the importance of educating therapists and getting life-saving treatment to sufferers quickly.  I am also reminded of just how meaningful it can be for individuals with OCD to connect with peers who also have OCD.  So many people suffer in silence, without ever having the experience of connecting with someone else who knows what it's like to be in their shoes.  I can give you a PowerPoint or lecture about OCD for hours, I can tell you about a time when I was scared or anxious; but that is not the same as connecting with another person who truly knows the struggle that is OCD.

See you in Austin 2019!
