Leigh Watson, PhD

Clinical Psychologist

Leigh is a North Carolina native who joined Bull City Anxiety & OCD Treatment Center in 2023. She was born in Hickory and grew up in Andrews, a rural Appalachian town in the far western corner of the state. As a teen, she moved to Winston-Salem and has lived most of her adult life in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina.

Leigh is a licensed clinical psychologist with training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD. Leigh completed a master’s degree in psychology and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a one-year predoctoral internship at Baylor College of Medicine, and a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical psychology at the Stanford Medical Center. She co-led a therapy group for patients with OCD while at Stanford and is a member of the International OCD Foundation.

Post-licensure, Leigh has worked in various settings, including private practice and the Veterans Affairs Health Care system. Since 2017, she has taught psychology classes to undergraduate students at Wake Forest University.

Leigh lives with her husband, teenaged daughter, and a tankful of tropical fish. She appreciates morning coffee, urban greenways, city lights, small towns, and music of all kinds. She is excited to help you move forward on your journey toward wholeness and healing.
