OCD Treatment Lunch & Learn Series

The OCD Treatment Lunch & Learn Series is a great way for clinicians to build awareness of OCD diagnosis, assessment, and treatment. These monthly virtual lectures will give you practical tools to integrate in your practice and earn you a quick CE credit, all while eating your lunch (or breakfast, if you’re joining us from the west coast!). The fall series will focus on comorbidities, with each month’s lecture featuring a common co-occurring diagnosis and exploring how it intersects with OCD.

When: First Thursday of each month, 12-1pm ET

Dates: August 6, September 3, October 1, November 5, December 3

Cost: $35/lecture; $150 for the entire series

Continuing Education: Bull City Anxiety & OCD Treatment center is an approved continuing education provider for ASWB/ACE (#286) and NBCC/ACEP (#7650). Each lecture is approved for one (1) continuing education credit.

  • These lectures are for mental health professionals. They’re ideal for clinicians looking to expand their awareness of OCD diagnosis and treatment.

  • Bull City Anxiety & OCD Treatment Center is an approved continuing education provider for ASWB/ACE and NBCC/ACEP. Each individual lecture is approved for 1 CE credit. If you are not a social worker or counselor, it is your responsibility to ensure that continuing education meets the standards of your discipline.

  • A post-test is not required. In order to claim CE credit, attendees must be present for the entire lecture and complete a session evaluation.

  • Yes! When you register, you’ll be given the option to register for the entire series, saving $25.

  • The lectures are hosted on Zoom, though operated through the Eventbrite platform. On the day of the event, you’ll access the Zoom link by logging into Eventbrite. We’ll also email more detailed instructions prior to each event, for those who may need extra details.

DESCRIPTION & LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • This presentation will explore the symptom overlap between OCD and ADHD, facilitating differential diagnosis by examining how similar symptoms in these disorders can have varying underlying functions. The lecture will also propose adjustments to Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) that accommodate for executive functioning difficulties often present in co-occurring OCD and ADHD.  

    Learning Objectives:

    Participants will be able to differentiate the overlapping and distinct features of OCD and ADHD to improve diagnostic accuracy.

    Participants will be able to identify common ways comorbid ADHD can affect presentation, assessment, and functional impairment associated with OCD.

    Participants will apply evidence-based strategies for adapting Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) when treating co-occurring OCD and ADHD.

  • This presentation explores the intersecting symptoms of OCD and PTSD and their functional differences in order to increase diagnostic accuracy.  This presentation examines the role of exposure therapy in treating OCD and PTSD by highlighting several case examples.

    Learning Objectives:

    Participants will be able to distinguish between overlapping symptoms of OCD and PTSD for increased diagnostic accuracy.

    Participants will be able to describe how exposure is utilized in the treatment of OCD and PTSD.

    Participants will apply exposure principles to target the individual needs of clients with co-occurring OCD and PTSD.     

  • This presentation explores the overlapping symptoms of OCD and Eating Disorders and differentiates their functions to better facilitate diagnostic clarity. This presentation discusses the role of exposure work in the treatment of OCD and Eating Disorders.

    Participants will be able to differentiate between the overlapping symptoms of OCD and Eating Disorders for improved diagnostic clarity.

    Participants will be able to apply principles of exposure work to treat OCD and Eating Disorders.

  • This presentation provides an overview of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Anxiety Disorders, including diagnostic criteria and differential diagnosis. Diagnostic and treatment considerations for co-occurring presentations will be reviewed, with an emphasis on evidence-based approaches. Case examples will be used to demonstrate assessment, case conceptualization, and treatment planning.

  • This presentation will provide an overview of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder with a focus on Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder. The discussion will include diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and evidence based treatment options. We will review potential barriers to treatment related to perfectionism, rigidity, and motivation for change to consider when the conditions co-occur. Case examples will be utilized to demonstrate treatment implications for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Participants will leave this presentation with information on both assessment and ways to individualize empirically supported treatment to this population.

    Review components of differential diagnosis, including assessment measures to utilize when OCD and OCPD co-occur.

  • Kristen is a clinical therapist specializing in the treatment of OCD, Anxiety, and OC-Related Disorders.  Kristen honed her OCD treatment skills at St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute, where she treated OCD in outpatient and intensive outpatient programs. She is a current therapist at Bull City Anxiety & OCD Treatment Center.

  • Jeremy is a clinical therapist specializing in the treatment of OCD, Anxiety, and OC-Related Disorders.  He's honed his practice in a variety of settings, including college counseling, NOCD, and currently, Bull City Anxiety & OCD Treatment Center.

  • Ben is the owner and director of Bull City Anxiety & OCD Treatment Center.  He specializes in the treatment of OCD, Anxiety, and OC-Related Disorders.  In addition to his clinical work, Ben is a speaker, trainer, and author of the book "Worrying is Optional".  He is also the current vice-president of OCD North Carolina, the non-profit state affiliate of the International OCD Foundation.
